Choosing the Right Dr. CHARCOAL Bag
Share
Every Dr. CHARCOAL bag works the same way: activated carbon captures odour molecules on its internal surface by adsorption, and takes up water vapour in enclosed air. What changes between them is the size of bag, matched to the size and type of space.
Start with the space
| Space | Bag | Typical number |
|---|---|---|
| Car, sedan or hatchback | Car Air Purifier 200g | 1 |
| Car, SUV or seven seater | Car Air Purifier 200g | 2, front and rear |
| Wardrobe, standard | Wardrobe Air Purifier 200g | 1 |
| Almirah, full double door | Wardrobe Air Purifier 200g | 2, placed apart |
| Bathroom | Bathroom Air Purifier 200g | 1, plus 1 in any closed cabinet |
| Shoe rack or shoe cabinet | 200g bag | 1, or 2 for a tall cabinet |
| Inside shoes, small cupboards, drawers | Wardrobe & Fridge 75g | 1 per space |
| Refrigerator | Wardrobe & Fridge 75g | 1 in the fridge, 1 in the freezer |
| Living room or bedroom | Home Air Purifier 500g | 1 |
| Kitchen | Home Air Purifier 500g | 1, away from heat and steam |
| Storage trunk or box | Wardrobe & Fridge 75g | 1 |
These are typical recommendations for ordinary use. Very damp, very full or very smelly spaces do better with an extra bag.
Why enclosed spaces come first
Activated carbon works on the air that reaches it. A small, enclosed space, such as a wardrobe, a car, a shoe cabinet or a fridge, has a small volume of air that stays put, which is the condition adsorption suits best. Our test chambers were enclosed and fan circulated.
If you are buying your first bags, start where the smell and damp start: the main wardrobe, the bathroom, the shoe rack and the car.
What an accredited lab measured
Dr. CHARCOAL was tested by ITS Laboratory in Noida, NABL accredited under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, certificate TC-6179, using a 200 gm bag.
- Gases (MS-160219-01). In a 100 square foot fan circulated chamber, eight gases fell 83.4 to 90.1 percent over 48 hours, including benzene at 90.1 percent and ammonia at 89.4 percent.
- Humidity (MS-240119-03). In a sealed 200 square foot chamber, relative humidity fell from 82.0 percent to 42.3 percent over 48 hours.
- Bacteria and fungi (BT-240119-01). In 24 hour contact testing to AATCC 100, E. coli was reduced 98.54 percent and Aspergillus niger 96.63 percent against control.

Placement matters as much as size
- Where air moves. Under a car seat, on an open shelf, hanging from a wardrobe rail with space around it.
- Not buried. Not under a pile of clothes, not sealed in a glovebox, not wedged behind food.
- Away from water and heat. Not where the shower splashes it, not on the stove.
- Out of reach of small children and pets.

Quick answers
Can I use a car bag in the wardrobe? Yes. The carbon is the same. The size and format are what differ.
Is bigger always better? Match the bag to the space. Two bags in two spots in a large almirah work better than one larger bag in one corner.
How long before I notice a difference? Give it 48 hours after dealing with the source.
